Boat trip to the Blue Lagoon of the Akamas
For many of our travellers, this is the highlight of their Cyprus holiday: a boat trip along the Akamas peninsula. From the little harbour of Latchi you sail past a coastline that looks exactly as it did fifty years ago — no hotels, no sunbeds, just rocks, juniper and sea.
The Blue Lagoon
The goal of the trip is the famous Blue Lagoon: a shallow bay with water so clear and turquoise it looks almost unreal. The boat drops anchor and you get plenty of time to swim and snorkel. Bring your own snorkel set or ask for one on board.
How to do it
You can choose between organised trips on larger boats or — our recommendation — hiring your own small motorboat in Latchi. No boating licence is required, and you set your own pace. Leave early in the morning and you'll have the lagoon almost to yourself.
Niki's insider tip
End the day the way the Cypriots do: with fresh fish and meze at one of the tavernas by the harbour of Latchi. In high season, book a table by the water.
When to go

Boat trips work best in the warmer months, but wind and sea conditions remain decisive. Departure times and routes may therefore change.
We adapt the day plan and activities to the weather, local conditions and any seasonal opening hours.
