Swimming at the Adonis Baths waterfalls
In the hills behind Paphos, at the end of an adventurous mountain road, a waterfall tumbles into an emerald natural pool: the Adonis Baths. According to myth, this was the secret meeting place of Aphrodite and her beloved Adonis — and anyone who swims here on a quiet morning will immediately understand why.
Swimming in a myth
You can enter the pool via steps or, for the daring, with a leap from the rocks. The mountain water is wonderfully refreshing after a warm day. Around the pool, paths lead to a second, higher waterfall — climb up for the best view over the baths.
The green hinterland of the Akamas
The Adonis Baths are the perfect gateway to the rugged hinterland. A little further on, the hiking trails of the Akamas nature reserve begin, with panoramic views over the coast. In spring the whole area bursts into colourful bloom — the most beautiful time of year here.
Niki's insider tip
The road up is narrow and partly unpaved — take it slowly and it's perfectly doable. Go in the morning, before the excursion groups arrive, and combine it with a village lunch in the wine villages of the Laona region above.

Spring and autumn suit the route through Akamas. In summer we start early, carry extra water and adjust the walk to the conditions.
We adapt the day plan and activities to the weather, local conditions and any seasonal opening hours.
