Walking holiday Akamas & Troodos
Few people know it, but Cyprus is a fantastic walking island: over two hundred waymarked trails, from coastal paths with sea views to mountain routes through centuries-old pine forests. This sample trip combines the two finest walking areas — the Akamas peninsula and the Troodos Mountains — with comfortable bases and the best routes for the season.
Highlights of this trip
- The Aphrodite and Adonis trails, with panoramas over the bay of Polis
- The Avakas Gorge: walking between walls thirty metres high
- The Atalanti trail around the highest peak of the Troodos
- Waterfall walks near the mountain villages around Platres
- Rest days by the sea, with a swim after the final kilometres
- Walking through the Laona wine villages, with a tasting as your reward
How your trip begins
You start on the west coast and warm up on a coastal path with sea views, followed by a refreshing swim. In the days that follow, coastal and mountain stages alternate, exactly at the rhythm that suits you — with a route description and GPX track from Niki in your pocket every day.
Your trip, tailor-made
This is a sample trip: we match the routes to your fitness and walking experience, from easy half-day walks to serious mountain stages. Niki walks herself and knows every trail personally — you get her routes, tips and alternatives for hot or rainy days.
When to go
March to May & October/NovemberChoose cooler walking weather
Spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable seasons for longer walks. In warmer months we choose early starts, shorter routes and the higher Troodos where possible.
We adapt the day plan and activities to the weather, local conditions and any seasonal opening hours.
