Winter sun in Cyprus
While it turns grey back home, daytime temperatures in Cyprus sit comfortably between 18 and 24 degrees. The sea is still warm enough for swimming in November, flamingos gather on the salt lake of Larnaca and you'll have the finest sights almost to yourself. This is the island at its most relaxed — and its most affordable.
Highlights of this trip
- Thousands of flamingos on the salt lake of Larnaca
- The archaeological treasures of Paphos, without queues and without the heat
- Walking along the coast and through autumn-coloured mountain villages
- Citrus season: fresh juice and markets full of oranges and mandarins
- Lunch in the winter atmosphere of the village taverna, by the open fire
- With a little luck: snow on the Troodos peaks and sun by the sea, in a single day
How your trip begins
You land in the winter sun and drive along the salt lake to your base on the south coast. The first days you stroll the promenade, visit the old town of Larnaca and have lunch outside on a terrace — in December. Then come Paphos and the mountains, at a gentle winter pace.
Your trip, tailor-made
This is a sample trip: in the winter months Cyprus is affordable and quiet, and we build the route around the best winter atmosphere — coast where the sun is, mountains when it turns festive. Niki knows exactly which places are at their finest in winter.
When to go
November to MarchMild, green and varied
Winter is often mild on the coast, but conditions are more changeable and rain is part of the season. The higher Troodos can be much colder and sometimes snowy.
We adapt the day plan and activities to the weather, local conditions and any seasonal opening hours.
